I had my first lethal encounter with Canadian fauna the other day. Driving home from Sherbrooke, about 100km or 60miles in the old language, I came over a rise at about 120kmp/h. I always dread these because your headlights illuminate the road a couple of seconds after you drive over the top.

We live in a rural area and I don’t have a bullbar on my truck so the fear of hitting a moose, deer or saskwatch is always a concern.

Well I did hit something. It was a porcupine and it’s quills were studded along both drivers side tyres.
